General
information
The University of Belgrade Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, (formerly called the Veterinary Faculty) was opened
in 1936. The Faculty is situated, in a comfortable building
at Bulevar Oslobodenja 18 and to date, 7,400 students have
graduated from the faculty including 132 students last year.
There are presently 1,568 students and 75 professors and associate
academic staff. Basic studies last for 5 years or 10 semesters.

Pre-examination tasks
The total number of subjects covered is 47 and studies include
compulsory lectures and practice. Entry into the following
year's course is dependent upon these obligations being fulfilled.
As a pre-examination requisite, students must provide proof
that they have regularly attended colloquium, seminars, practice
sessions and passed the required tests. Examinations are in
the form of oral, written and professional practice and are
taken in January/February, April, June, July, September and
October. The conditions governing enrollment for the following
year are set down in accordance with the General Acts of the
Faculty. Some examinations may not be moved to the following
year. During the fourth and fifth years of studies, examinations
and intensive professional practice make-up a higher portion
of the studies than in previous years.
Study facilities and equipment
The Faculty Library, with over 19,600 books, periodicals and
publications, is on the 2nd floor. The library has specialist
publications for specialist, doctorate and master studies.
There is a 30 seater reading room in the basement of the faculty.
The library is open daily from 09.00-13.00 hrs and the reading
room from 07.00-22.00 hrs. The scriptorium, with photocoying
facilities is adjacent to the main entrance and is open from
09.30 to 12.30 hrs. The Students Centre 'Veterinary' Restaurant
is situated on the ground floor and is open from 07.00-14.30
hrs.

The Student Service is also situated in the office of the
Faculty. Information regarding the faculty, including all
aspects of studies, credits, stipendium, index stamps or accommodation
in the hall of residence, may be obtained there.

Student organizations and associations
The Students Union (SUVET) is syndicated to all the student
organizations and represents and promotes the students rights
and interests and represents them before the Faculty. SUVET
is involved in many activities including the following: ORCA
(Organization for the respect and care of animals), VID (Veterinary
research society), IVSA (International organization of veterinary
students) – which organizes international student exchange
visits and professional practice and seminars.There is also
a sports society called ”Veterinary”.

information
Physical Chemistry has been taught at the University
of Belgrade for nearly 100 years, more precisely since 1903,
at which time it was part of the curriculum of the Grand School’s
Faculty of Philosophy. Before The Faculty of Natural Sciences
and Mathematics was founded in 1947, the institutional framework
for studies of Physical Chemistry in this country, were formerly
set by the Council of Physical Chemistry. In 1971, The Department
of Chemistry and Physical Chemistry was founded at the Faculty
of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, followed by the foundation
of The Faculty of Physical Chemistry in 1990. In addition
to basic studies, the faculty also provides postgraduate studies,
which are famous and highly respected for their excellence.
There are 43 professors, assistant professors and associate
professor members of the Academic staff. 1,400 students have
graduated from the Faculty, and at present there are 500 students.

The curriculum
There are five main subjects taught at The Faculty of Physical
Chemistry: General Research, The Physical Chemistry of Matter,
Physical Chemistry with Environmental Control and Protection,
Biophysical Chemistry and Radiochemistry with Nuclear Chemistry.
After the successful completion of their five years of basic
studies, graduates are awarded a degree in Physical Chemistry.
Basic studies are divided into nine semesters. During the
first four semesters all students are required to do the compulsory
courses, upon completion of which, students are offered a
number of different, optional courses.
Pre-examination Tasks
In to certify the semester or year, students must attend all
lectures and practices and they must also fulfil a number
of additional pre-examination tasks, such as passing partial
examinations and tests and handing in seminar papers. Examinations
are taken in January, April, June, September and October.
Conditions governing enrolment for the following year are
set down in accordance with the General Acts of the Faculty.
There are certain examinations which cannot be transferred
from one year of studies to the next.

There is a library, containing a large selection of books
and magazines, and a reading room located in Room 366.

The faculty is equipped with a computer centre, which is
at students’ disposal when not used for purposes of
lectures. Apart from SimLab, lectures take place in the General
and Physical Chemistry Laboratory, Electrochemical and Chemical
Thermodynamics Laboratory, Spectrochemistry Laboratory and
Radiochemistry Laboratory.

information
The Faculty of Pharmacy at Belgrade University was
founded in 1945. A Department of Pharmacy was opened at the
Faculty of Medicine in 1939 and tuition was held at the Serbian
Clinical Centre, with the management office at Dr Subotica
8. The Faculty of Pharmacy moved to a new building at Vojvode
Stepe 450, Kumodraz. 8,508 students have graduated from the
Faculty of which 272 were awarded MA. PH. and 332 PhD. PH.
At present there are 2,850 students and the period of study
is for 5 years.

The new curriculum
The period of basic studies is five years (10 semesters).
There are two modules (courses): Pharmacist and Pharmacist-Biochemist.
The course is chosen on entry to the Faculty.
Pre-examination tasks
Students are obliged to attend the practices and lectures
in order to certify a semester or a year in addition to; a
pass in partial examinations, tests, laboratory practice,
seminars and practical work. Professional practice is organized
for final year students. Examinations are taken in written
form, orally or/and practical form. Conditions for entering
the next Academic year are set in accordance with the General
Acts of the Faculty. The total number of examinations are
31.
Student facilities and equipment
There are 3 Faculty buildings; The Zeroth building and two
wings, A and B. Tuition is held in the amphitheatres which
are to the left. The administration is to the right of the
entrance.
There is a library, containing 12,000 units of professional
literature and also a reading room in the library with some
sixty seats.

The photocopy shop is on the lower level – to the right.
Working hours: 11.00–13.00 hrs every working day.
A new computer centre with 30 new computers, intended for
student’s individual studies, is to be opened.

The Student Parliament is the representative body of the Students
FPH Student Union, Student Alliance.
Sport Association and the Pharmacy Scout Association called

room next to the photocopy shop.
