THE “VERA BLAGOJEVIC I AND II” HALLS OF RESIDENCE

Accommodation
Opened in 1936 and originally called “Kraljica Marija”, “Vera” was the first exclusively female residence to be opened. Today the residence has two buildings which are close to each other. “Vera 1” has a capacity of 138 beds, with 45 rooms and “Vera 2” II” a capacity of 175 beds with 65 rooms. Rooms are twin, three and four-bedded rooms. In “Vera 1” each room has en suite facilities, while in “Vera 2” there are communal toilet and shower facilities situated on each floor. Each room has a telephone extension and calls may be made or received via a local operator. (Vera I – 381 11 3246 663 and Vera II 2759 948).

Facilities
There is a fitness/aerobics centre, a parent’s guest room, laundry, TV room, reading room and a coffee shop.

THE “KOSUTNJAK” HALL OF RESIDENCE

Accommodation
The “Kosutnjak” hall of residence was opened in 1961 and comprises of two blocks, A and B. It has a capacity of 333 beds with a total of 121 rooms of which 9 are single-bedded, 20 twin-bedded, 84 three-bedded and 8 four-bedded. The rooms are comfortable and each has a kitchenette, en suite facilities and a telephone extension where calls may be received or made via the local operator. (3545-595)

Facilities
In block A there is a coffee shop, reading and TV rooms and a table tennis room, below which is a discotheque. B block also has a reading room and the Laundry is situated there. The restaurant is situated in a separate, adjacent building and the sports facilities are located between blocks A and B.

THE STUDENT’S TOWN HALLS OF RESIDENCE

Accommodation
The Students’ Town, with its resident student population of 4.394, is the largest student campus in this area of Europe. It opened in 1950. and has four blocks (block I - telephone; 604-578, block II - telephone; 609-655, block III - telephone; 609-457 and block IV- telephone; 603-390). Each of the four blocks has a G and F wing. G wings have 6 floors while F wings have 7. The rooms are twin or three-bedded or apartments. Each room has a kitchenette, en suite facilities and a direct digital telephone link (All numbers begin with 310–xx-xx, the first xx denotes the block and the second xx the room number.)

Facilities
There are many facilities available to the students including a post office, shops, internet café, coffee shops, TV rooms, library, a 500 seat central reading room, smaller reading rooms, photography club, a laundry and an internal television station, which is situated in Block II. There is also a Walk-In clinic. There is a theatre where a very lively theatre group stages many cultural events and shows the latest films.
In block III, a famous touring, traditional Arts group, called “Spanac” meet to practice and perform their art. There are also extensive sports facilities, with many opportunities for students to take part in recreational sports such as football, basketball, karate, handball or chess. There is also another sports centre - “11th April” in close proximity. During the summer months students in Blocks I and II must vacate their rooms because these blocks are used as tourist hostels.

THE ”KARABURMA” HALL OF RESIDENCE

Accommodation
The “Karaburma”, the second largest hall of residence, was opened in 1978 and was the last of the residences to be opened in Belgrade. It has a capacity of 1,170 beds, with 690 rooms, of which 210 are single-bedded and 480 twin-bedded. Each room has a telephone extension and calls may be made or received via a local operator (3290-114) there are communal toilet and shower facilities. The residence comprises of 2 tower blocks, one with 17 floors and the other 15. Each tower has 2 lifts. Tower A houses female students, while tower B is designated for male students.

Facilities
The residence has a library, reading room, Walk-In clinic, and an art room for painters, sculptors and other artists. There is also a restaurant, TV room, small shop, post office, fitness and aerobic centre, internet café, photocopying service and a large discothèque where, except during examination periods, raves are often organized. Sporting facilities include a mini football area and basketball court.

THE ”PATRIS LUMUMBA” HALL OF RESIDENCE

The residence was opened in 1961 and has six blocks of accommodation. Today all the blocks are in use except for block two, which is currently being renovated. There is a 1.026 bed capacity, excluding block two, with 368 rooms, of which five are single–bedded, 68 twin-bedded and 295 are three-bedded. Rooms in block 1 have en suite facilities, while in the other blocks there are communal toilet and shower facilities located on each floor. All rooms have telephone extensions and calls may be made or received via a local operator. Blocks 1 and 3 are reserved for male students, block 4 is mixed and blocks 5 and 6 are reserved for female students.

Facilities
There is a restaurant, TV room and reading room. There are also basketball and volleyball courts.

The “King Aleksandar I” Hall of Residence

Accommodation
The ”King Aleksandar 1” hall of residence (still known affectionately to everyone as “Lola”), is the oldest Hall of residence on the Balkan peninsular and was opened in 1927 on the initiative of King Aleksandar I. Today the capacity is 526 beds with a total of 196 rooms of which there is one single-bedded 122 twin-bedded, 11 three-bedded and 64 four-bedded rooms. Each room has en suite facilities and a telephone extension where calls may be made or received via a local operator.

Facilities
There is a reading room and on the ground floor there are two restaurants, one of which is a commercial grille restaurant.
During the summer holidays the residence becomes a tourist hostel.

”April 4th” HALL OF RESIDENCE

Accommodation
The ”4th April” hall of residence opened in 1965 and comprises of two buildings, titled A and B blocks. There are a total of 289 rooms (854 beds) with 13 twin-bedded rooms and 276 three-bedded rooms. Rooms in Block A are rated as 1st category rooms with en suite facilities. In block B there are communal toilet and showers. Each room has a telephone extension and calls may be made or received via the operator. (3974-990).

Facilities
Block A has a large reading room and a TV room, which is used at weekends as a disco. Both rooms are located in the basement area of the residence. There is also a Walk-In clinic, laundry and restaurant.
The ”4th April” is the only hall of residence which has an indoor sports hall with table-tennis facilities and outdoor courts and areas for football, handball, basketball and volleyball.

THE ”RIFAT BURDŽOVIC” HALL OF RESIDENCE

Accommodation
Opened in 1948, this was the first hall of residence to be opened after World War Two. The total capacity is 367 beds with 187 rooms, of which seven are single-bedded and 180 twin-bedded rooms. The building has two floors with the ground floor reserved for male students and the first floor for female students. Communal bathroom and toilet facilities are located on each floor. Each room has a telephone extension and calls may be made or received via a local operator (381 11 3406 555).

There are two restaurants, one of which is a commercial restaurant, a TV room, reading room and coffee shop.

THE “SLOBODAN PENEZIC” HALL OF RESIDENCE

The residence has three buildings, the first is reserved for female residents while the second and third are for male residents. The total capacity is 756 beds with 372 rooms of which, five are single-bedded, 350 twin-bedded and 17 three-bedded rooms. Each room has a direct telephone link. Communal Bathrooms and toilets are located on each floor.

Facilities
There is a TV room, coffee shop, discotheque and fitness centre. The laundry is situated in the second block. Each block has a reading room and except for block 2 they are air-conditioned. Small, floodlit, football, volleyball and basketball courts are located at the rear. This is the only hall of residence which does not have a restaurant within the building complex and therefore students use the facilities in the “Rifat Burdzovic” residence.

Accommodation
“Žarko Marinovic” is the smallest of the residences, with a capacity of 155 beds. There are 3 single-bedded, 8 twin-bedded, 4 three-bedded and 31 four-bedded rooms. There are communal bathrooms and toilet facilities, one on the ground floor and two on each of the other floors. There is a telephone extension in each room and calls may be made or received via a local operator (3160-003).

There is a 30 seat reading room on the ground floor, a restaurant, TV room and nearby outdoor sports facilities for football, volleyball, basketball.

Accommodation
Residents of this hall are students who have special needs. Accommodation is allocated based on medical reports issued by the Council of Student Policlinic Authority. The total capacity is 162 beds, with 80 rooms of which, 8 are single-bedded, 62 twin-bedded and 10 three-bedded rooms. Each room has a telephone extension to make or receive calls via a local operator. Communal shower and toilet facilities are located on each floor.

Facilities
All the facilities have been adapted for students with special needs, amongst these facilities there is a reading room, a large TV room, restaurant and outdoor sports facilities. There is a Walk-in Clinic.
