A variety of thetres, galleries, cinemas and museums make Belgrade artistic and cultural center of the whole region. Approximately 9,000 cultural-artistic programmes are performed annually in our capital, while festivals such as FEST, BITEF, BELEF and BEMUS along with the Book Fair have long time ago gone beyond the national lines and become part of European cultural and artistic stage.
The most eminent cultural institutions are situated in Belgrade – Serbian Academy of Science and Art, The National Library of Serbia, The National Theatre, The National Museum, The University of Arts…

FEST (International Film Festival)

A festival of performing nature, which has so far 33 times welcomed the most eminent names of the world cinematography. It is held at Sava Center during the last week of February and the first week of March. The next FEST starts on February 24 and will last till March 5 2006.

BELEF (Belgrade summer festival)

It represents the most important summer cultural happening, encouraging and cherishing creativity and imagination of the artists and promoting Belgrade as an open-hearted city. It synthesizes theatre, artistic dances, visual arts and music. It is held during July and August.

BITEF (Belgrade International theatre festival)

It has been held since 1967 in September. As a competitive festival it enjoys the status of a cult festival and is considered to be among the five most significant European festivals. It is famous for promoting new theatre streams.

BEMUS (Belgrade music festival)

The oldest and the most important music festival in our country. It is held in the first half of October in Kolarac Legacy, Sava Center and other halls. This year’s, 37th BEMUS lasts till October 19.

BELGRADE BOOK FAIR

One of the biggest fairs in the region (150,000 visitors). This year, which is also proclaimed to be the Year of the Book, the Fair will be celebrating the fiftieth anniversary, being held between October 25 and October 31. At the fair, which is of commercial type, new editions are presented as well as the whole range of fair exhibitors. This year’s special guest country is Great Britain, and the fair ticket is 150 dinars.

The fact that Belgrade is in capital letters engraved on the international cultural map is proved by: October saloon, Cenemania, The Joy of Europe, BeogrAD, Student Film Festival, The Street of Open Hearts, Ship Carneval, Summer in Belgrade, Archeological Film Festival…

BELGRADE BEER FEST

In three years Belgrade Beer Fest has become a symbol of good entertainment and fun. The date when it is held is inevitable factor in summer activities planning.
The Festival brings together leading domestic and foreign beer manufacturers, while the very happening, which is organized near Nebojša Tower at Kalemegdan incorporates magnificent musical programme. The Festival has been awarded the prize of Serbian Public Relations Association and also received an award “Be good and show it to the others”.

BELGRADE SPORT FEST

Within 3day-long festival competitions, presentations and promotions in more than 150 sports disciplines were organized.
Tournaments were organized in the following sports: basketball, football, handball, badminton, beach volley, baseball, table tennis, climbing, Paint ball, etc.
The festival also included the presentation of martial arts, and the visitors had an opportunity to enjoy viewing real big balloons, sailing boat exhibition, paragliding exercise, Tuning & Styling exhibition, rafting presentation, triathlon competition.The biggest festival attractions were certainly extreme sports - water jump, roller-skating and skateboard competitions, bungee jumping.
Sport Fest also included: Olympic day run, the finals of the competition “Be basketball player”, mini aero-meeting, celebrities basketball tournament .
Bearing in mind the status of the young in society, a very important part of the festival was dedicated to a number of youth campaigns, which sent significant social messages related to various topics which are of interest for the young.
